One of the most challenging tasks for a content creator is constantly creating content for sales. I’ve found one of the best ways to get through content-block is to have a NICHE!
To learn how to develop your niche and use it to make sales on social media, keep on reading!
What is a niche?
Niche is a funny word, but what it represents is YOU. A niche is what you do, what you offer, and the problem you solve. We can work on it over time, and it should never hold you back from creating content and making sales.
How does a niche work?
First and foremost, not everyone needs a niche to be successful on social media. Many brands out there don’t necessarily have a pain point they’re solving and are wildly successful in business and life. HOWEVER, when you’re starting, specifically if you’re a service provider, the more we can narrow our business down to a specific pain point we can solve, the easier it is to create content, speak to one person, and sell an offer.
However, establishing a niche can be paralyzing, so don’t get hung up on it. Deciding on a niche should feel natural to you, be in your unique genius zone, and solve a problem people ask of you all the time.
What are the benefits?
Similarly, the benefit of a niche establishes you as an expert in your space. A niche makes you unique, and people will look to you as an authority to make sales easier to achieve. For example, if my toilet exploded, I would call a plumber specializing in sewage pressure. Water is spewing, pipes are bursting, and I have a pain point that I’m willing to spend more on to get fixed quickly and correctly.
Doctors are another great example. If we have skin irritation, we go to a dermatologist. Or, if we’re having a baby, we seek the expertise of a gynecologist. These medical specialists are harder to access, which translates into a busier schedule, which means they get paid more for their skills than a general practitioner. Medical professionals establish their business as an authority on one pain point by specializing, resulting in higher growth and revenue than if they remained generalized.
The benefit of a niche is you can start basing your content around
- A specific person
- A specific pain point
- A specific offer
How to identify your niche?
You can identify your niche by creating a transformation sentence that answers the following questions:
- What makes me different?
- Who am I helping?
- What problem do I solve?
- How do I solve that problem?
Your niche becomes material when you can answer these questions in a transformational sentence. You can create specific content, establish yourself as an authority, and start making sales.
And don’t worry about confining yourself with a niche; it can evolve as you grow, become more exclusive, and deepen with your experiences!
