Of course kim’s uber famous and has millions of followers, BUT there are still some key takeaways in what her and her team did that all of us can learn from when it comes to a successful launch:
1. THE BUILD UP was real for this launch. I personally signed up for the waitlist newsletter months ago. The FOMO around not knowing when it was going to drop was REAL. Not to mention the sneak peek look into the campaign gave us just enough to want to keep knowing more. Plus being on the waitlist I knew the EXACT moment the collection was live.
2. SCARCITY & URGENCY – The collection was advertised to be sold in very limited quantities so this created a sense of scarcity and urgency that it was going to sell out fast (which it did). Humans need urgency in order to almost buy anything – it’s key to always have a timeframe or limited value on a product/launch.
3. EXCLUSIVITY was created in two ways – the VIP waitlist AND the fact that once the collection is gone is gone forever.
4. EXPENSIVE – this collection was not cheap and therefore made it seem valuable and chic AF!
Say what you want about the Kardashians, but I’ve always said it – the girls know marketing. So many valuable lessons any business or brand can take away and apply here.
